Incredibly, the struggle to win woman suffrage in the United States lasted 72 years (1848-1920) and involved millions of women and men making enormous sacrifices. Women's Suffrage passed nationally (at least for white women) in 2020 with the 19th Amendment. Suffrage was won in New York State on November 6, 1917 with New York City men, led by trade unionists and immigrants, favoring suffrage by over 100,000 votes.
